Welcome
to Ohio Advocates for Health Care Access.
OAHCA is a consortium of organizations from across Ohio working
together to protect access to quality health care for all Ohioans.
OAHCA partners include voluntary health associations, physician
organizations, the bio-technology industry and community groups.
Most of the partners provide services directly to patients and
their families. They offer services and advocate for patients with
illnesses such as diabetes, cancer, pulmonary disease, heart disease,
mental illness, liver and kidney disease, vision impairment, AIDS,
epilepsy and many others.
As a statewide network, OAHCA focuses on information and education
relating to health care access issues. Meetings and forums are
held regularly and focus on various access issues including Medicaid
trends, medical liability and affordable prescription drugs.
A
list of OAHCA partners appears to the right and in the “Who
We Are” section. Internet links to most of the partners
are available.
Please
visit the “Educational Forums” section of this
Web site for notes and information on topics of interest to OAHCA
partners.

Partnership to Fight Chronic Disease releases "Promising Practices" guyde. (June 16, 2008)
Keeping America Healthy: A Catalog of Successful Programs, (a.k.a. "Promising Practices") was officially released on June 5 at Fighting Chronic Disease: The Missing Link in Health Reform -- an event in Washington, D.C. co-sponsored by PFCD and Emory University.
This first-of-its-kind document provides an answer to the question that many of us have been hearing throughout our time in the PFCD - what can we do to make a difference?
Nearly 150 programs are featured in the document as either, Programs that Work, Programs to Watch, or Programs with Promise. Policymakers, at the federal and state level, as well as other health care stakeholders such as providers, employers, and labor unions, will be able to use this document to search through programs that work, and identify successful ways to make a difference in workplace, schools, communities, and systems throughout the country.
In addition to the extensive, hard-copy document, a Web site has been launched on which you can search the database of programs and submit additional programs to be considered for inclusion on the site. Click here to browse the online version. |
