Current Health Care Access Issues

Ohio Advocates for Health Care Access met May 10, 2006, at the Capital Club. Speakers included:

• Nan Migliozzi and Linda Scovern from the Ohio Department of Health

Nan and Linda discussed the Ohio Department of Health’s Bureau of Health Promotion and Risk Reduction and the “Health Ohioans” initiative. (www.healthyohioans.org).

• Tracy Williams, Medicaid director at the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services

Tracy provided an overview of some of the recent changes to Medicaid and managed care in Ohio.

• State Senator Steve Stivers, chair of Senate Insurance committee

Senator Stivers discussed current legislation related to health care access issues, as well as legislation in the Senate Insurance committee.
